Lessons from “Green Acres”: Lesson 1

Lesson 1

Brush mowers (AKA String Mower or String Trimmer Mower) might be the greatest yard work invention of all time.

This mower, the Cub Cadet  22-inch, is the one I have and it is phenomenal.

I have beat the crap out of it for over 2 years and it’s still running like a champ.  The property is very rocky and a bit hilly, so some areas just can’t be mowed with a riding mower without tearing up blades and launching rocks into windows.  This mower hits the sweet spot between Weedeater and riding mower.  When you have more than about 20 square feet to mow and the riding mower won’t work and a Weedeater would take forever, the string mower is the way to go.  It’s also great for tall grass that tends to lay down when you try to use a riding mower on it.

As a bonus, it’s pretty good at killing snakes too.  Warning: Do NOT try this.  If you do and get bit, you’re on your own.
